AG-BLF BOOK PRIZE 2026

Atta Galatta-Bangalore Literature Festival Book Prize 2026

The Bangalore Literature Festival and Atta Galatta, the city-based bookstore and art-literature space, announce the Atta Galatta-Bangalore Literature Festival Book Prize 2026.

The awards this year will carry a total purse of Rs. 3,50,000 (Rupees Three Lakhs and Fifty Thousand) to be shared by the winners of the various categories of:

• Best Fiction (English)
• Best Non-Fiction (English)
• Best Cover Design
• Best Children’s Picture Book Story
• Best Children’s Picture Book Illustrations
• Best Children’s Book Fiction
• Best Children’s Book Non-Fiction

Winners take home an original trophy, Thought Beyond Words.

Inviting Entries to all the Categories:

1. Entries must be full-length works of fiction or non-fiction, including translations, poetry, short story and essay collections (by a single author).
2. All entries should have been first published in the period between 1st September 2025 and August 31st 2026.
3. Entries can be submitted by publishers or individuals, who may send in as many entries per imprint, by authors, including self-published and works published only in e-book form.
4. The book must be an original work in English published in India, or in the case of e-books, by a citizen of India.
5. Works of translation should have the English version published in the stipulated period.
6. Self-published and e-book submissions should include a certification on the date of publication which is verifiable.
7. Please provide a cover letter clearly stating the category in which you intend to submit your entry/entries.
8. If books are being submitted in multiple categories, please specify in the cover letter.

Selection Process

• The last date of submission of entries is 15th September 2026.
• Four copies of all submissions should be sent by courier.
• Upon submission, the books will be distributed to the jury for their selection process and will not be returned.

• E-books or electronic versions of the submissions should be sent in PDF format to agblfprize@attagalatta.com
• Submissions will be screened and entries that fulfill the eligibility criteria will be reviewed by the AG-BLF Book Prize Jury Panel comprised of eminent writers.
• The Panel will announce a longlist by 15th October 2026.
• The Panel will announce a shortlist by 15th November 2026.
• The winners of the Atta Galatta-Bangalore Literature Festival Book Prize for 2026 will be announced and will receive their award at a special ceremony during the Bangalore Literature Festival, scheduled for 12th and 13th December 2026.

AI-Generated Content Prohibition

The AGBLF Book Prize celebrates original human creativity, craftsmanship, and storytelling. To protect the integrity of human authorship and artistic expression, the following rules apply to all entries:

Text & Content: Submitted manuscripts must be the original work of human author(s). Content created or generated by artificial intelligence tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Jasper, or other Large Language Models) is strictly ineligible. This includes manuscripts written entirely or partially by AI, even if subsequently edited or rewritten by a human.

Cover Design & Artwork: Book covers must be designed and illustrated by human artists or design teams. Covers created, rendered, or derived using generative AI image generators (e.g., Midjourney, DALL-E, Stable Diffusion) are strictly ineligible.

By submitting an entry, publishers and authors certify that the work complies with these terms. The AGBLF Book Prize committee reserves the right to request proof of the creative process and to disqualify any submission found to contain undisclosed AI-generated text or cover art.
